Developer payment
From Open Progress
The Stichting Open Progress will as an organisation that is active in both software and content development have to deal with requirements where the timely existence of specific functionality will be of the essence to the success of its projects. There will also be projects that will have such a complexity that it is best to have great developers work on this in a concentrated way in order to come to a delivery of new functionality.
The consequence is that Open Progress will pay developers fair wages for the work that they do. Preference will go to those developers who have established themselves because of their competency. Another factor that will be of relevance is that we will seek developers with expertise in language families; this will allow us to deal particularly with issues that are specific to these language families.
The payment for some functionality does not imply that all the development will be paid for. We have had some great contributions by volunteer developers and these have proven extremely relevant to our project.
With the involvement of organisations, they may have a requirement for functionality. They will have the option to either develop this functionality themselves or they can ask Open Progress to develop it for them. It is important to realise that in order to integrate functionality into OmegaWiki there is a need to ensure that functionality is done in such a way that it integrates well with the functionality and, this task is exclusively performed by Open Progress. It is important for the timing of new functionality that Open Progress has sufficient means to perform this task.
